WebDirect Session Timeouts and Configuration

Intermediate

Configure WebDirect session timeouts, connection limits, and idle behavior for production deployments.

What you'll learn

  • Configuring WebDirect idle timeout in Admin Console
  • What happens when a WebDirect session times out
  • The relationship between timeout settings and concurrent user capacity
  • Session timeout for kiosk and high-availability deployments

WebDirect sessions consume server resources for as long as they are active. Configuring appropriate timeouts ensures idle sessions do not hold WebDirect connection licenses and server resources indefinitely. This is both a security and a capacity management concern.

Idle timeout configuration

In Admin Console: Configuration > Web Publishing > WebDirect Settings > Session Timeout. Set the idle timeout in minutes (default: 60 minutes). Sessions that have not had any user interaction for this duration are automatically disconnected. The user sees the login page on their next interaction.
