WebDirect runs in any browser -- including mobile browsers on phones and tablets. However, FileMaker layouts are not automatically responsive. A layout designed for a 1280px wide desktop browser will not render well on a 375px iPhone screen. Designing for mobile WebDirect requires deliberate layout choices.

How WebDirect scales on mobile

By default, WebDirect renders the layout at its defined size and the mobile browser scales it. A 1024px wide layout appears very small on a 375px screen. Users must zoom in to interact -- a poor experience. To support mobile, either: (a) create separate mobile-specific layouts at a narrower width, or (b) use FileMaker Go instead of WebDirect for mobile users.
