Kiosk Mode Security
IntermediateLock down FileMaker solutions running in kiosk mode: prevent bypassing the app, limit menus, and control navigation.
What you'll learn
- FileMaker's built-in kiosk mode and its limitations
- Privilege set configuration for kiosk deployments
- Preventing escape from the kiosk solution
- Physical security considerations
Kiosk mode runs FileMaker in a restricted, full-screen environment intended for unattended or public-access use cases -- check-in stations, survey tablets, point-of-sale screens. Security concerns are different from normal deployments: the physical device is exposed, the user is anonymous, and the solution must prevent escape to the OS or other applications.
What FileMaker kiosk mode does
Kiosk mode (accessible via account privilege set or File > File Options > Open in kiosk mode) hides the menu bar, status toolbar, and window controls. The FileMaker window fills the screen and most keyboard shortcuts are disabled. Users cannot access the Manage menus, Script Workspace, or Layout mode.
