Adding a portal to display related records

A portal is a scrollable list on a layout that shows records from a related table — one row per related record, with columns for each related field you choose to display.

Insert the portal

In Layout mode, choose Insert > Portal. The Portal Setup dialog appears. Select the table occurrence you want to show records from. Set the number of rows and whether to show a vertical scroll bar.

Portal Setup dialog options:
- "Show records from": choose the related table occurrence (e.g., Orders)
- "Show vertical scroll bar": on for long lists
- "Allow deletion of portal records": check if users should delete rows
- "Initial row": 1 (start from the first related record)
- "Number of rows": 5–10 for most layouts
- Sorting: set optional default sort within the portal
